     When I was in 7th grade, I've been so excited to become a grade 10 student. Why? It's because it's the last grade in Junior High School. So, here I am, I am now a grade 10 student soon to be graduate. To be honest? I'm scared, I'm scared to move up because the idea of entering a one room without those people who I used to be with, I think I can't? Almost all my classmates are planning to go to STEM strand while me, planning to go to HUMMS.

     High School life made me learn from my mistakes. Learn how to strive on my studies. Taught me not to become coward at difficult times and be brave enough to reach the peak.

     I know it feels like we're saying goodbye but we will carry a piece of each other into everything we do next, to remind us of who we are, and who we're meant to be. I've had a great four years with you.  I will miss all your laughs, your craziness, your smiles, your ugly faces. Thank you for giving me so much fun, I enjoy being with you. I'll surely treasure those memories we had!. The thought of saying goodbye to all of you makes me sad. You guys are the best classmates I ever had! I love you all! :'(

"MY DREAM OF BECOMING A LAWYER"

     Since when I was a kid, I've never stop dreaming to be one of the professionals in the near future. My father was on his last year studying law, when... He died on a heart attack. What makes it worst is that I'm only 4 years old when he left. That's my inspiration why I'm still pursuing to become a lawyer. Destiny didn't let my father to fulfil his dreams, so as a daughter, I'll be fulfilling it. Just wait there, I'll become a lawyer someday.

    When I become a lawyer, I would like to fight for the rights of average people because what I've notice in today's society is that justice favors the wealthy not the truth. My dream is to seek justice for all. I'd like to help those people who always seem to get lost in the system. I want to prove myself that one day I'll be able to make a difference in once life.

     My dream is to become a lawyer, and one day I'll make that dream come true.  As what Eleanor Roosevelt said " The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams"

"118th FOUNDATION DAY"

  Foundation Day is a celebration in a school to commemorate when a school was established. It is one of the awaited event in a school. It is an annual celebration that every student participates.

           Ilocos Sur National High School recently celebrated its 118th Foundation Day on March 1-2, 2020. The event lasted for two days. The first day is the coronation of the 9th Prince's and Princesses and the King and Queen held at the Centennial Gymnasium of the school. The second day celebrated with the parade of every grade level with their costumes. After the parade, the students of every grade level performed their field demonstration with variety of dances. The teachers also performed a dance.

   Ilocos Sur has a rich heritage and unique culture that are to be preserved for the next generations because it is observed that many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano culture are not familiar to the younger generations already. Children of today are paying more attention to the modern and novelty dances they seen on the television than the traditional ones. There is also a need to evaluate the different products of the different municipalities and the agricultural products and livestock of the farmers and fisher folks. Because of this, the provincial government of Ilocos Sur conceived a festival that will highlight these culture and traditions and attract local and foreign tourists as well.

      They call it the KANNAWIDAN Ylocos Festival, it is also a time to commemorate the anniversary of Ilocos Sur as a province since it was separated on February 3, 1818. Kannawidan is a variant of the Ilocano word "tawid" meaning heritage or inheritance. Kannawidan has its beginnings in 1992 when Guia Monroy Valenciano, then vice-president of PCI Bank, began sounding out to friends about establishing a museum. Her son Al, an artist, and the late Perlita Alviar-Foz, who once served as a curator of the Ayala Museumin Vigan, encouraged her. The idea caught on fast. Among the instant converts were: Ogie Balmaceda Alviar and Alice Raval Ventura, the wife of then city mayor Cesar Ventura. Together with Guia and Al, they called on Francis Ablan, then Caltex Phils. President. Since then, more members have joined the group. The number grew to include professionals, businessmen, civic leaders, government officials, housewives and retired executives and public servants whose roots are in Ilocos Norte and are committed to preserve their rich heritage. Its vision is: An esteemed and respected cultural foundation of Ilocanos who hold a deep respect for our heritage, instilling pride and sense of identity among all Ilocanos committed to ensure the conversion, preservation, and promotion of the Iloco cultural, artistic, historical and intellectual heritage. 

      We all know that the Ylocos Region is very rich in many aspects. The Ylocos Region is unique among other regions because of its extraordinary historical events. In kannawidan, we can see unique delicacies from other towns, we can see also the literary works Ilocanos, tradition and culture of Ilocanos and the "one town, one product" or the (otop). Visiting kannawidan was a great, you can learn a lot there.Kannawidan Festival celebrates and preserves the culture, customs and tradition of Ilocanos.This festivity has a great impact to the people for it shows how their province live and lines. Kannawidan is also an evidence that the ilocano  is rich in cultures and traditions.

     It is the Ilocanos' way of giving thanks to the Almighty not only for the bountiful blessings but also for the rich heritage of the city, including the close family ties among the Ilocanos. This event showcases the deep-rooted religiosity of the townsfolk.

     Change happens whether we like it or not and regardless of whether we do anything about it. Tomorrow will be different than today. We can resist, but that is a bit like standing in a river and trying to hold back the water – useless. We have a choice to watch change passively happening around us, or to participate and lead it.

     Most people who say they don’t like change mean they don’t like when it happens to them,but they don’t mind if they are the ones initiating the change.  We’d rather be the changer than the change.Those with a growth mindset see difficult problems as challenges to be solved, embracing them with enthusiasm and determination. Those with a fixed mindset see difficult problems as a pain in the butt and tend to give up before they start.  Those with a growth mindset welcome change while those with a fixed mindset resist it.

     Changes are taking place on all levels, from simple to complex; whether the minuscule transformations of our brain cells to the political crises unfolding around the world. Some changes we can manage, some we can influence, but realistically, most are outside our control. Statistically few of us will change the history of the world in a momentous way. Individually we cannot eradicate war, poverty, greed and corruption. I won’t invent a cure for cancer or solve the opiate crisis. But I can change myself. And in changing myself I may have a greater, more positive impact on my world – the one in which I actually live.

     We can lead change and make our world a better place if we start with ourselves. Learning to become a better spouse, parent, businessperson, leader, salesperson, philanthropist, coach and volunteer will enable me to contribute more to my family, my community, and my industry. By inviting positive change into my life, by initiating change, I might be able to positively influence others.

     But that’s a choice they have to make.

"FIESTA DE LA CIUDAD DE VIGAN"

     The Vigan City Fiesta is held every January 25. It is celebrated during the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle. St. Paul is Vigan City’s patron saint. Before his conversion, St. Paul was known as Saul, a zealous persecutor of Christians. After he was touched by a personal encounter with Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus, his name was changed to Paul and he endured a lot of hardships and danger to spread the word of God to far places.

Vigan’s main church, the Metropolitan Cathedral is dedicated to St. Paul and it stands at the core of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia. The major Catholic educational institution in Vigan that stands beside the church is also dedicated to the patron, the St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur. The Vigan City Fiesta usually lasts for several days. It includes within the period the celebration of the anniversary of the cityhood of Vigan, which is commemorated every January 27.

     Biguenos from all over the country and even abroad return to Vigan, as it is the custom of Filipinos to return to their hometown to join their family and friends in the celebration of their fiesta. They are joined by thousands of visitors from other parts of the Philippines and other countries in enjoying the cultural shows, parades and street dancing prepared by the local government with the help of the local industries and communities. There are also food fairs, arts and crafts exhibits, as well as a visiting carnival.

     Participants from the different neighboring provinces in the northern region are also sent to compete in the various games and activities, particularly the street dancing competition. This participation by other municipalities makes the Vigan City Fiesta not only a local event participated in by Vigan’s officials, but a national event participated in by other local public heads and national officials. Within the Vigan City Fiesta days, the Longganisa Festival is also celebrated. The city has a

     Longganisa-themed parade and at one time attempted to set a record for having the longest longganisa ever made. The festival has become a crowd-drawer as Vigan longganisa, a native version of Mexican salami, has a distinct garlicky taste that has become a favorite of the Filipino palate. Though other manufacturers have tried to copy the Vigan longganisa taste, they have not been successful. Biguenos attribute this to the fact that the making of Vigan longganisa is a centuries-old tradition of the local makers and all if not most of the ingredients used in making the native sausage is sourced from Vigan. Vigan’s garlic and sugarcane vinegar are said to be more strongly flavorful. It’s a great take-home gift after partaking in a Vigan City Fiesta.

     "A new year is a new beginning. It is like a new birth."

     As the new year begins, we feel that we need to make changes in our life, start on a new path, do new things, and say goodbye to old habits, problems and difficulties.

     I am thinking of New Year resolutions that I rarely make because I never keep them. Should I make some this year? If I do, what resolution(s) should I make? Will I keep them? Or will I forget all about them in February?

      I would like to become more assertive and self-confident. I need thus some more courage in my daily affairs. In addition, I need some courage to esteem my faults and failures and put them on the path of improvement: it seems like I'm becoming dependant upon the opinions of my surrounding (friends, relatives and classmates), so I would like to manage some situations on my own, without relying upon the others' advice or imposition. I want to become more independent in my attitudes and viewpoints and to get the ability to separate my judgments from those of others. In short, I want to be a better person, So to make myself better, First Let go those people who don't like you, move on, forgive them.... then, Start!. God will guide you the right path, I swear.
